Car rental:
Before hiring a car, it is advisable to plan your journey or trip
to some extent, so that it is clear how far and where you will be
driving - and what kind of car would be most appropriate. This can
make a big difference as most visitors underestimate the size of the
country: South
Africa is roughly about twice the size of Texas and driving across
3000km without air conditioning can be very trying in our hot summer!

Family travel:
If you are planning to bring the family on a self-drive vacation,
it may be a good idea to consider one of our Motor
Homes as they are the latest range and come fully equipped with
necessary luxuries like microwaves, showers and ample space to move
around in. As the country has many beautifully appointed camping sites
around the major attractions, a motorhome may well be worth it

To 4x4 or not…:
South Africa has a number of pristine wilderness areas, some of which
can only be accessed by a 4x4 safari vehicle. There are also specifically 4x4 trails. If you
are planning a holiday in remote areas, or plan to drive in isolated
regions then this would be a good choice - however, the roads in South
Africa are excellent and the infrastructure is world-class, so an
ordinary sedan car is more than suitable for long distance travelling
cross-country

Low budget:

to be smaller and more compact, with less boot space. This option
is not really suitable for families with more than three members

Safari Self-Drive:
We also offer vehicles that are completely self-sufficient and perfect
for camping in game parks or wilderness areas. As the roads in most
of the country's game parks are very good, it is possible to plan
your own safari and drive there, scheduling game drives and activities
as you like
